What are Dental Implants?

Replicating the natural function and appearance of your lost teeth can be very difficult to accomplish. Historically, dentures or bridge restorations would be used as replacements, but with limited results. Dental implants, however, are natural-looking replacements for missing teeth that also provide the same function as your natural tooth root.

Each implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. Often the implant can be placed at the same time as the tooth is removed.

The main aim during installation of any implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability, which over time is steadily enhanced by further growth of bone into the microscopic roughness on the implant surface. In order to support replacement teeth, dental implants normally have some form of internal screw thread or post space that allows a variety of components to be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures.

What happens if a missing tooth is not replaced?

A missing tooth can lead to potential problems if not treated:

  • Drifting and shifting of the neighboring teeth causing an unbalanced bite.

  • Increased biting stress on other teeth.

  • Bone recession in the area of the missing tooth.

  • The gap between teeth widens, thereby compromising the esthetic effect.

  • Losing your natural smile.

How can a missing tooth be replaced?

1. Removable Partial Denture:  It attaches to your natural teeth with metal clasps or devices called precision attachments

Drawbacks:

  • Increasing stress on the teeth around the area of the missing tooth.

  • Bone recession in the area of the missing tooth.

2. Fixed Bridge: It is a false tooth fused between two porcelain  crowns to fill in the area of the missing tooth. The neighboring teeth area prepared (drilled) to attach in 3-tooth fixed bridge.

Drawbacks:

  • Root canal treatment might be necessary on the prepared teeth.

  • Increasing stress on the healthy teeth holding the bridge.

3. Dental Implants:

It is an artificial tooth root, made of titanium metal. Dentist places it into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. It is a permanent fixture in your mouth that has  excellent long-term success.

It also provides more advanced options for replacing a missing tooth than conventional removable partial denture or a fixed bridge.

It helps to preserve healthy teeth and eliminate the risk of dental decay.

Benefits Of An Implant

  • Replaces one or more teeth without affecting neighboring teeth.

  • A long lasting solution

  • Helps to prevent bone recession

  • Eliminates the risk of dental decay

  • Improves your speech, overall self-image and increase your ability to eat an array of foods.

Implant Overdentures & Implant Fixed Bridges

Our removable implant solutions provide you with quality restorations that utilize the latest technology for a reasonable and consistent price. To best support your every need, we have created a full-service CAD/CAM dental implant department of specially trained technicians to restore your dentists' cases. All pricing includes labor, model and die work, analogs, preparations not limited to set-ups, bite blocks, try-ins and verification index.

Locator Bar Overdenture: A verification index is made from an implant level impression and its fit is verified in the mouth. This index is then sent to the NobelProcera® manufacturing facility for scanning. The scanner data of the index and the individual implant platforms are transferred to a design station where the one-piece framework is finalized. After design, it is milled from either a single piece of titanium or hardened zirconia for a precision fit of less than 20 microns.

Inclusive® Implant Abutments

Three customized implant abutments under the Inclusive® brand name. Inclusive Implant Abutments are available in Titanium, Zirconia with Ti-Insert or All-Zirconia to fit your dentists' patients' individual needs.

NobelProcera™ Implant Abutments

The NobelProcera abutment can be made to all Nobel implants, and most implants for AstraTech, Camlog, Straumann, Lifecore, Zimmer, and Sterngold. Customized implant abutments provide better margin placement and gingival tissue support to reduce the chance of creating dark interproximal spaces or exposing margins on anterior restorations.
